Status Matching American Airlines To Southwest A-List

If you have American Airlines Platinum, Platinum Pro or Executive Platinum status, you can skip out on all the usual Southwest requirements and status match straight to A-List level.

There are a couple of exclusions. If you’re already an A-List member, you can’t use the American Airlines Status match to extend expiring A-List status. You also aren’t eligible if you gained A-List status using another promo in the past 12 months.

If you’re eligible, here’s how the match works. First, you’ll match for a 90 day period with no strings attached. You can then extend your A-List status match by 12 months if you do either of the following:

  • EITHER Fly 3 Round Trip ‘Revenue’ Flights

  • OR Fly 6 One-Way ‘Revenue’ Flights

A revenue flight is simply a paid-for flight and a qualifying flight counts as a Southwest Airlines flight from origin to destination. Intermediate stops or Southwest connecting flights won’t count as multiple flights.

If you earn Southwest A-List status the normal way following the match, this will supersede the match and your A-List status will expire on December 31st of the current year.

How To Complete The Status Match

First of all, unless you’re already a member, you’re going to need to sign up to Southwest Rapid Rewards. Once signed up, login to your account and note down your Southwest Rapid Rewards number. You’ll need this later on.

Once you’ve done that, login to American Airlines AAdvantage and screenshot your AAdvantage status (making sure both your name and status are visible).

Next, go to the Southwest Status Match page, scroll down and click on ‘Register Now’.

Your email client should open a draft email to southwest.statusmatch@wnco.com containing a short to-do list. If your email client doesn’t open, just sent an email to southwest.statusmatch@wnco.com with the following:
