How To Status Match Lufthansa To Virgin Flying Club
/Lufthansa Miles & More members can status match to Virgin Flying Club. If you hold Lufthansa HON Circle status, you can status match to Virgin Gold. Similarly Lufthansa Senator members can status match to Virgin Silver. In this guide, I’ll detail the Lufthansa-to-Virgin status matching process and explain all of the Virgin benefits you’ll unlock with elite status.

Status Matching Lufthansa Miles & More To Virgin Flying Club
To status match to Virgin Flying Club, you actually need to have an upcoming flight pre-booked with Virgin Atlantic. This has to be a ‘revenue’ flight, meaning rewards flights don’t count. You also need to have Lufthansa Miles & More Senator or HON Circle status. HON Circle members can match to top-tier Virgin Gold and Senator members can match to middle-tier Virgin Silver.
The Virgin Atlantic booking that you need to have made prior to the match also has to meet a minimum cabin class, but only if you’re matching from HON Circle to Virgin Gold:

To Match To Virgin Gold - Need Upcoming Virgin Atlantic Booking In Premium Economy or Upper Class
Newly matched Virgin status, whether Silver or Gold, will expire 12 months after the match date. After that date, you’ll become a Virgin Red, Silver or Gold member based on the Virgin Tier Points you’ve earned in that 12 month window.
Virgin can revoke a status match. They’ve likely added this T&C so that you can’t book a flight, match and then cancel the flight.
How To Complete The Status Match
First of all, you’re going to need to sign up to Virgin Flying Club if you haven’t already. It’s likely you already have since you’ll need to have pre-booked that Virgin Atlantic flight prior to matching. Login to your Virgin account and note down your Virgin Flying Club number. Then, go to ‘My Flights’ and screenshot your Virgin Atlantic booking (the reference number should be visible).
Now, head to Lufthansa Miles & More, login and screenshot your Senator or HON Circle status. Your name and status should be visible in the screenshot.
Now that you’ve got proof of your Virgin Flying Club number, Virgin booking and Lufthansa status, head to the Virgin Status Match Page. Once there, scroll down to the online form.
Complete the ‘About You’ section, then select ‘Lufthansa - Miles & More’ from the ‘Name Of Other Airline Programme’ dropdown menu. Once you’ve done that, select ‘Senator’ or ‘Hon Circle’ from the next dropdown menu, attach the 2 screenshots (Lufthansa status and Virgin Booking) and hit ‘Send’.
It can take up to 30 days for Virgin to confirm a status match. The 12 month window starts the date your Virgin status match has been implemented.
