How To Status Match Southwest To Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

Southwest Rapid Rewards members can status match to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. In this guide, I’ll break down the matching process, along with the benefits received with MVP Gold 75K Alaska status.

Status Matching United To Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

The Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan status level you can match to depends on your current Southwest Rapid Rewards status:

  • Southwest A-List members can match to Alaska MVP

  • Southwest A-List Preferred members can match to Alaska MVP Gold

  • Southwest A-List Preferred members with Companion Pass can match to Alaska MVP Gold 75K

You’ll initially match for a period of 90 days. You can then extend your status if you meet Alaska’s Status Match Challenge requirements in that 90 day window:

  • To Extend MVP Status - Fly 5,000 Miles on Alaska in 90 Day Window

  • To Extend MVP Gold - Fly 10,000 Miles on Alaska in 90 Day Window

  • To Extend MVP Gold 75K - Fly 20,000 Miles on Alaska in 90 Day Window

If you manage to meet Alaska’s status match challenge requirements, your Alaska status will then be extended until:

  • End of Current Calendar Year - If matched before end of June

  • End of Next Calendar Year - If matched between July and end of December

How To Complete The Status Match

First of all, you’re going to need to sign up to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan if you haven’t already. Once you’ve got an account, note down your Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number. You’ll need this to complete the match.

Once you’ve done that, sign in to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account and screenshot your Southwest status. Make sure both your name and status are visible. Then, scroll down on your dashboard to ‘Points Activity’ and screenshot your previous year or year-to-date activity (whichever one earned you your elite status with Southwest).

The ‘Points Activity’ is used by Alaska to check that you earned your Southwest status the usual way. If you earned Southwest status through a credit card or similar promo, they won’t allow you to match.

Once you’ve got all of the above, go to the Alaska Airlines Status Match page. There, complete the online form, selecting your current Southwest status, entering your Alaska Mileage Plan number and email. Upload the screenshot(s) of your Southwest status and activity and hit ‘Submit’.

Most hear back from Alaska within a few days but officially it can take up to 4 weeks to confirm your status match.
