Matching Marriott Bonvoy Status To United Premier Silver

Here's how to status match your Marriott Titanium or Ambassador status to United MileagePlus Premier Silver. First, if you haven’t already, sign up to United MileagePlus. United MileagePlus is free to join and it only takes a few minutes to create an account. Once you’ve signed up, note down your United MileagePlus number.

The confirmation page states that the match can take between 7-10 business days. However, you’ll likely see your United status update within the next few days.

Earn Bonus Miles When You Transfer Marriott Points To United

Thanks to their preferred partnership, you can get not 1, but 2 bonuses when you transfer Marriott Bonvoy Points to United MileagePlus Miles:

  • Bonus 1 - 10% More United Miles

  • Bonus 2 - 5,000 Extra Miles Per 60,000 Marriott Points

Whilst Marriott Bonvoy Points can be transferred at a rate of 3:1 on 40+ airlines, you’ll earn 10% more United Miles when you transfer Marriott points to United MileagePlus. You also earn 5,000 Extra Miles as standard for every 60,000 Marriott points transferred.

For example, 60,000 Marriott points would get you 27,000 United Miles. That’s 22,000 United Miles transferred from Marriott at a rate of 3:1.1 as well as 5,000 bonus Miles.

You can transfer 3,000-240,000 Marriott points per day.

Note, the transfer tool won’t display the 10% United Miles bonus or the 5,000 bonus Miles per 60,000 points transferred. Just ignore that number and do the calculation yourself to work out how many United Miles you’ll get.

If you’re wondering about moving points in the opposite direction, from United to Marriott Bonvoy, you can do that. However, I wouldn’t recommend it in most cases. 1 United Mile tends to be worth more than 1 Marriott Bonvoy Point. Combine that with the poor 1:1 transfer rate and you’re likely better off sticking with the United Miles.
