Status Matching American Airlines To Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

The higher your American Airlines AAdvantage tier, the higher Alaska tier you can status match to:

  • American Airlines Gold members can status match to Alaska MVP

  • American Airlines Platinum members can status match to Alaska MVP Gold

  • American Airlines Platinum Pro & Executive Platinum members can status match to Alaska MVP Gold 75K

Alaska offer an immediate status match, followed by a status match challenge. You’ll initially match for 90 days and you can extend your status if you meet Alaska’s status match challenge requirements within those 90 days:

  • Extend MVP Status - Fly 5,000 Miles on Alaska in the 90 Days post-match

  • Extend MVP Gold - Fly 10,000 Miles on Alaska in the 90 Days post-match

  • Extend MVP Gold 75K - Fly 20,000 Miles on Alaska in the 90 Days post-match

Meet those status match challenge minimums and your Alaska Mileage Plan status will expire:

  • At The End of The Current Calendar Year - If you matched before the end of June

  • At The End of The Next Calendar Year - If you matched between July and the end of December

How To Complete The Status Match

First, if you haven't done so already, sign up to Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. This should only take a few minutes. Once you’ve got an account, write down your Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan number. You’ll need this later on.

Next, login to American Airlines AAdvantage and screenshot your American Airlines status. Both your name and status should be visible in the image. Once you’ve done that, view the ‘Helpful Links’ dropdown menu and click on ‘Activity’. There, screenshot either your previous year or year-to-date American Airlines activity (whichever year earned you your status).

You need to prove to Alaska Airlines that you earned your American Airlines status the normal way (eg. not through a credit card status promo).

Now that you’ve got all of the above, head to the Alaska Airlines Status Match page and complete the online form. Alaska will ask you to select your current American Airlines Status, enter your Alaska Mileage Plan number and Alaska email. Upload the screenshots you took earlier (American Airlines Status and activity) and click ‘Submit’.

Officially, it can take up to 4 weeks to get your status match confirmed. However, most people hear back within a few days.
