Status Matching United To Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

The Alaska tier you can match to depends on your United status:

  • United Premier Silver Members Match To Alaska MVP

  • United Premier Gold Members Match To Alaska MVP Gold

  • United Premier Platinum or Premier 1K Members Match To Alaska MVP Gold 75K

Initially, you’ll be matched for 90 days. You can then extend your status if you meet Alaska’s Status Match Challenge requirements in that 90 day window:

  • Extend MVP - Fly 5,000 Miles on Alaska

  • Extend MVP Gold - Fly 10,000 Miles on Alaska

  • Extend MVP Gold 75K - Fly 20,000 Miles on Alaska

If you meet Alaska’s status match challenge requirements, your Alaska status will be extended until:

  • End of Current Calendar Year - If challenge started before end of June

  • End of Next Calendar Year - If challenge started between July and end of December

How To Complete The Status Match

First, join Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan to get a Mileage Plan number. Write down this number as you’ll need it as part of the matching process.

Next, sign in to United MileagePlus, click on ‘MileagePlus’ and head to ‘Status Tracker’. Once there, take a screenshot of your United Status (showing your name), then scroll down and take another screenshot of either your previous year or year-to-date activity (whichever year earned you your United status).

Alaska will only match to your United status if you earned it the normal way. That means status earned through credit cards or similar promos won’t count.

Next, head to the Alaska Airlines Status Match page and complete the online form. Select ‘United’ as your ‘Current Frequent Flyer Program’ and enter your Alaska Mileage Plan number and email. Upload the screenshots of your United status and activity and hit ‘Submit’.

Whilst most people get confirmation of their status match within a few days, officially it can take up to 4 weeks. You might want to take that into account if you’re waiting to book a flight with Alaska.
