Transfer Marriott Points to United For Bonus Miles

If you’re taking advantage of the United to Marriott status match, you’ll likely accrue a number of Marriott points. If you’d prefer United Miles, you can take advantage of the United-Marriott preferred partnership and earn bonus United Miles when you transfer points from Marriott.

  • 1st Bonus - 10% Extra United Miles When Transferred From Marriott (3:1.1 Ratio)

  • 2nd Bonus - 5,000 Extra United Miles Per 60,000 Marriott Points Transferred

Eg. 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points = 27,000 United Miles (22,000 Miles at 3:1.1 Ratio + 5,000 Bonus Miles).

Note, when you use the transfer tool, the calculator won’t display the 10% United Miles bonus or the 5,000 bonus Miles per 60,000 points transferred. So just ignore that number and do the calculation yourself to work out how many United Miles you’ll get.

You can transfer Marriott points to a range of airline loyalty programs at a rate of 3:1 but since you’re probably a frequent United flyer, it’s likely you’ll benefit from the better United transfer rate. You can transfer 3,000-240,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points per day.

Points can be transferred in the other direction, from United to Marriott. However points transfer at a ratio of 1:1 and 1 United Mile is usually worth more than 1 Marriott Bonvoy Point.
